Why you should choose Squarespace to create your website

I get you.
This online world can seem to be a lot to take, and the more we move forwards with inventions, AI, new technologies, the more web design platforms appear to be… well, quite equally identical. But like any brand and service, they each have their specificities. After asking myself the same question and working with Squarespace since then, here are a few thoughts to help you answer this Hamletian question.
So let’s dive in, shall we?
Squarespace is an all-in-one platform

Fear not, we shall decipher it together.
An all-in-one platform means simply that you can do *almost* a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g you wish to have on your website and that e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g is gathered in one place, on… you guessed it, your website. Whether you need a blog, a simple portfolio, an events page, an appointments section, a shop to sell your arts & crafts or digital pdfs and courses, you name it, Squarespace has it.
Sure, depending on what you need, some plugins or advanced coding might be needed but most of the time, you don’t need those. Especially when you’re starting out. And here, we like non tech-savvy things (a looot, here here fellow creative).
It’s easy to use and to update
Talking about non tech-savvy stuff, Squarespace is super intuitive. And that’s a big win. The basics to have an up-and-running website are included, no code needed. You can easily create a page, design and switch sections on it, drag-and-drop blocks, customise forms, erase and start again, from one click of your pad. There are back-end parameters, but what is great with this platform is that you don’t especially need it. It mostly works visually for you to actually see what you intend to create or change.
Forget about the obscure graphs and the 122212111122221122122 whatever. What you need is well organised in categories with samples of what it will look it. This also mean that you can allow yourself to mess around and be creative when you update your website, without feeling overwhelmed or in need of a webdesigner for a tiny twist.
Plus, this makes creating a website wayyy funnier and it’s a time saviour!
Create from the ground up or use a template

Think reputation here. No one wishes a visitor, a fan, or a buyer to think that from their website. But this can happen when you spend tons of hours searching for inspiration here and there, and then create a mash-up of all of it to put on your brand new website. What’s great with Squarespace is that thanks to its elegant and functional templates, you can edit and update your website without losing the broader picture. A template gives you structure. It’s like an example of how to organise a page on your website and how to display elements (images, texts, links), while keeping a visually appealing and easy-to-use navigation for your visitors. This way, you’re sure to have a compelling website that will amaze them. And happy visitors means they will come back.
Security is taken care of
Https:// and co, does that ring a bell? If not, know that this part of your URL (or domain name if you prefer) is already a clue about whether or not your website is secure. But depending on which platform hosts your website, you might also need to change some parameters or add plugins, to make it unbreakable. And to no one’s surprise, Squarespace has it all built-in so that you don’t have to worry about it.
You create your website, or work on it with a websdesigner, and the platform takes care of the security for you. Though Squarespace has further parameters you can control, they most likely concern the security of your website’s visitor, and not you, the owner.

Affordable price for a great quality website

No problem. Here at The Unbroken Artist, we looove to debunk the myth around the broke artist or entrepreneur or creative. But I digress. What I’m trying to say is that even with low money, you can start somewhere to have an amazing website.
Of course, it still requires a small amount from you each month, but Squarespace is really worth the price. Their lowest plan starts at 17€ (or £ a month or $25), and you can even have a discount if you pay annually for a total of 12€ (or £ for the lowest one or $19)! You’ll also have to *buy* your personalised domain name (the URL thing above) but this is just one small grain of sand. Plus there’s no extra hidden costs. And we advocate for transparency here.
Besides, if you want to grow your website, add options, and set aside more money to invest in it, you can always do it later on. Yep! If you decide to add a shop for example, you can change your subscription for an upper plan, or on the contrary, if you start a different chapter in your life and you don’t need certain options anymore, you can always lower the cost. There’s a solution, anytime : )
Evolution and specificity like the big ones (aka Wordpress or Shopify)
Picture it:
You start solely as a singer-songwriter: you need a portfolio and maybe a blog to share your journey with your community, and to show your work industry peers. A place that represents you visually.
But you keep growing (living the not so *pipe* dream!), so you want to expand your opportunities and streams of income. Squarespace has got you covered. Selling a service as a producer? Creating a small eCommerce to sell merch and your CDs (hey I’m a Millennial okay?!) ? It’s a piece of cake. Your website is scalable, just like your career!

Over the last two decades (hello emo 2003), Squarespace has become the GOAT of high-end visual design, up-to-date, easy-to-use, versatile web design platforms. Year after year, it kept evolving to add more options and broaden the functionalities for individuals, artists, small businesses, or bigger companies.
One thing is for sure, if you choose Squarespace to create your website or to hire a web designer to create one for you on it, you’ll have made a right choice (I say *a* because there’s not one unique perfect choice).
